Experience and visibility have stopped moving together

Experience and visibility used to move together. Gerard argues that link has broken, because answer engines select on specificity rather than seniority. An engine is looking for whoever has answered a precise question, and three months of experience competes with thirty. The direction of travel does favour credentialed people. Engines are moving towards rewarding real practitioners with a verifiable track record, and listing degrees and experience already helps. The catch is sequencing. Credentials only count once your answer exists and has been indexed, so they break a tie you have to be present for. Gerard's conclusion is that there is no route around the work. A professional has to produce answers to the difficult questions, publish them, and get them found before any track record can do anything. For most people that means video, answering specific questions, published often enough to be indexed.
