What a successful first week in market looks like
A successful first week for a new go-to-market push is less glamorous than founders hope. The one in a million does $10,000 in day one sales; for everyone else, success in week one is good engagement, a healthy click-through rate and a sensible cost per click. Gerard's argument: attention comes first. If you cannot earn attention and a small interaction early, nothing downstream works. CPC and CTR measure attention cheaply and simply. Display ads pulling a strong click-through rate from a target market say the pain point is real and there is a market to address, as long as the message honestly reflects the product rather than baiting clicks. From there the work is split testing and tuning the conversion funnel. Set realistic goals for week one: an interested audience at a fair price is something to build on.
