Introducing
Founder of Fractal. 20+ years in digital marketing across agencies, startups, and global brands. Based in Brisbane, originally forged in London.
Gerard helps founders navigate the chaos of marketing — not by handing over a report and walking away, but by rolling up his sleeves and building the engine alongside them.
Philosophy
Gerard's mission is to help founders, innovators, creators and dreamers find their market — to realise their ambitions and fulfil their business potential. His approach blends deep strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
"We've all met consultants who advise, give you pages of research and Ibis reports, then walk out the door and leave you to do it all yourself. At Fractal, we implement what we recommend."
His startup experience — founding three ventures of his own — uniquely positions him to help businesses navigate rapidly evolving marketplaces that are constantly under threat of disruption. He doesn't just understand the theory; he's lived it.

Origin Story
In 1997, Gerard was discovering the Internet in UQ business computer labs. He signed up to a multi-level "paid to surf" company called AllAdvantage, earned his first USD$20 cheque, and wanted more.
He submitted his site to Yahoo.com and became the third-ranked site for his category — back when Yahoo sorted results alphabetically. He then discovered SEM, optimising for SEO on Excite and Looksmart while buying PPC ads on Goto. At one stage, he was the top PPC advertiser on terms like "make money" and "get rich."
He built a 20,000-person downstream and was interviewed by the Australian Newspaper and PC Magazine. That early obsession with digital acquisition became a career spanning two decades, three continents, and some of the world's biggest brands.
Education

Thought Leadership
Gerard hosts the Fractal Marketing Podcast — a series of open and honest conversations with founders about how they're marketing their startups. He's been featured on the Cemoh Fractional CMO Podcast, Brisbane Digital Spotlight, and the Decida community.
He now writes extensively about AEO & GEO Strategy — Answer Engine Optimisation and Generative Engine Optimisation — helping businesses rank in the age of AI-powered search through platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini.
"What creates good decision making is not a positive outcome. Great decision making is the result of a good process, open-mindedness and a willingness to compare to the expected outcomes."
